Apple Cider Canker Sore Remedies
Canker sores are actually ulcers in your mouth that can be painful and a hassle to get rid of. Although most of these sores eventually go away on their own within ten days or so, there are various at-home remedies that you can try to help speed up the process. Apple cider vinegar works in several ways to help ease the pain and erase these irritating sores.-
Using Vinegar as a Mouth Wash
-
You can purchase apple cider vinegar in a variety of places from online to grocery stores for $4 to $10 a bottle, depending on where you buy it and the brand you are buying. Apple cider vinegar has been used for several years for weight loss, allergies, acne, poor complexion and other issues. One of the other uses for this vinegar is to help get rid of canker sores.
You can eliminate the pain caused by a canker sore and promote the healing process by making an apple cider vinegar mouthwash. Mix one tsp. of apple cider vinegar with warm water and swish the mixture in your mouth for a few seconds. Use this remedy several times a day.
Dab away the pain
-
Take a cotton swab or cotton ball and soak the tip of the swab or cotton ball in the vinegar. Dab the inside of your mouth with the vinegar several times a day, keeping in mind that this will sting the ulcer in your mouth. Do this until the canker sore goes away, which should be in around two days.
Safety Precautions
-
According to Webmd.com, not enough is actually known about apple cider vinegar to know about safety precautions when using it on a regular basis. Although it is safe in smaller doses such as for canker sore treatment it is always best to check with a doctor before using something if you have questions. Since little is known about apple cider vinegar it is suggested to keep away from using it long-term if you are pregnant or breast feeding, have weak bones (it could cause osteoporosis), or have diabetes (may increase potassium in diabetics).
