Home Remedy for Helicobacter Pylori
Helicobacter pylori are spiral-shaped bacteria that favor your stomach as a residence. While some bacteria in the gut are considered “friendly” and necessary to maintain optimum health, this particular strain creates an imbalance of good-to-bad bacteria. More importantly, these invaders secrete an enzyme called urease, which neutralizes stomach acid and eventually leads to the formation of ulcers in your stomach lining. The good news is that you can fight back with a home remedy for Helicobacter pylori.-

Supplement with licorice root extracts. A study published in the Sept. 7, 2009 issue of the Journal of Ethnopharmacoly reported that extracts of licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) contain triterpenes that promote anti-inflammatory activity. The researchers also noted that polysaccharides found in licorice root inhibit the colonization of Helicobacter pylori by increasing mucosal secretions in the stomach lining, making it difficult for the bacteria to gain a foothold.
Earlier studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of licorice root in treating ulcers in terms of reducing the size of ulcerations and providing a degree of protection from stomach irritants other than Helicobacter pylori, such as corticosteroids. However, it should be noted that the primary constituent of licorice root, glycyrrhetinic acid, increases blood pressure. Therefore, deglycyrrhizinated licorice, also known as DGL, is best for supplementation.
Clean out your system with rhubarb and soap nut. The Nov. 28, 2006 issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology released the results of a study on the effects of the extracts of rhubarb (Rheum spp.) and soap nut (Sapindus mukorossi) against Helicobacter pylori. The researchers, who employed both in vivo and in vitro methodologies, found that both extracts successfully deterred the growth of Helicobacter pylori. Of particular interest is the finding that the bacteria failed to develop a resistance to either botanical, even after numerous exposures to the extracts.
Eat your vegetables to get rid of Helicobacter pylori. Certain vegetables are reputed to deter this bacteria and help to promote the healing of ulcers. For instance, cabbage juice is an old-fashioned remedy for ulcers, the success of which is likely due to its glutamine content. Researchers have found that sulforaphanes found in broccoli and broccoli sprouts possess exceptional antimicrobial properties and effectively inhibit the colonization of Helicobacter pylori, including antibiotic-resistant strains. In fact, a 2003 study conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine revealed that certain sulforaphanes effectively checked "three reference strains and 45 clinical isolates of H. pylori.”
