Water Intake & Urination Frequency
The amount of water you need to drink every day depends on where you live and your activity levels. Your water intake can affect your health and your urination frequency.-
Water Intake
-
In order to stay hydrated, most people need to drink about two liters of water a day, says the Mayo Clinic.
Urinary Frequency
-
Urinary frequency is the number of times per day you need to empty your bladder. Frequent urination occurs when you need to urinate more than usual.
Nocturia
-
According to the National Institutes of Health, most people can sleep eight hours without needing to wake up and urinate. If your water intake is high at night before you go to bed, you could have increased urinary frequency and need to urinate during the night.
Diabetes Insipidus
-
Some medical conditions can require you to increase your water intake. Diabetes insipidus causes you to urinate frequently, so you need to drink more to avoid dehydration.
Dehydration
-
If your water intake drops too low to replace the fluids you lose, you could become dehydration. Mild dehydration will reduce urination frequency to less then once every eight hours. With severe dehydration, urination could stop.
