• If your urinary infection spreads to your kidneys, they can become infected. If this remains untreated, you can become very ill with high fever, dehydration and potentially kidney damage.

Sepsis

• An untreated urinary infection could spread to your blood, leading to sepsis, which is potentially fatal.

Considerations

• When undergoing treatment for a urinary infection, it is important to take the full course of antibiotics to be sure all the damaging bacteria is cleared from your system.
