Dilute urine with cranberry juice. Along with water, consume cranberry juice to dilute and acidify your urine and stop the development of bacteria in the urinary tract.

Treat pain with OTC drugs. Back and pelvic pain are common with UTIs. Take acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin to relieve aches and inflammation. Follow package instructions.

Use heat to alleviate bladder pressure. Bladder or lower abdominal pressure can cause discomfort and additional pain. Relax in a warm bath or apply a heat compress to this region to lessen pressure and ease pain.

See a doctor. Antibiotics can provide quick relief, and they usually treat infections within three to seven days. Seek medical attention to receive an accurate diagnosis and receive medication to fight the infection.
