1
Take in lots of water. Regularly consuming eight glasses of water a day can help treat and prevent UTIs. At the first sign of an infection, drink plenty of water to remove bacteria from your urinary tract and relieve symptoms.
-
2
Dilute urine with cranberry juice. Along with water, consume cranberry juice to dilute and acidify your urine and stop the development of bacteria in the urinary tract.
-
3
Treat pain with OTC drugs. Back and pelvic pain are common with UTIs. Take acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin to relieve aches and inflammation. Follow package instructions.
-
4
Use heat to alleviate bladder pressure. Bladder or lower abdominal pressure can cause discomfort and additional pain. Relax in a warm bath or apply a heat compress to this region to lessen pressure and ease pain.

5
See a doctor. Antibiotics can provide quick relief, and they usually treat infections within three to seven days. Seek medical attention to receive an accurate diagnosis and receive medication to fight the infection.
