Visit your doctor. You will need a complete physical examination to determine the cause of your frequent urination. Your doctor will check your urine to detect the presence of an infection, and may recommend blood tests to rule out diabetes.

Take antibiotics. Depending on the results of your urine test, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics if you have an infection. Many times, frequent urination is related to a urinary tract infection, especially if it is accompanied by burning, urgency, abdominal pain and occasionally, blood in the urine. Make sure you finish all your medication or else the infection may not resolve.

Ask about prescription medication. Frequent urination can be related to an overactive bladder. Ask your doctor if medication to treat this condition is appropriate for your condition. These medications encourage the bladder to relax and are effective in relieving episodes of overactive bladder and subsequent urinary frequency.

Perform Kegel exercises. Kegel exercises work to strengthen the muscles of your pelvic floor and the muscles responsible for holding urine. Your doctor can advise you how to effectively do Kegel exercises. It may take up to eight weeks for you to notice an improvement.

Eat a high-fiber diet. Eating foods high in fiber can relieve constipation, which may be associated with urinary frequency. If you have difficulty eating high fiber foods, ask your doctor to recommend a fiber supplement.
