Herbal Ways to Get Rid of Bladder Infections

Bladder infections are also known as UTIs, or urinary tract infections. These infections cause painful and frequent urination, blood in the urine and even fevers. It is important that a person be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. It is now possible to diagnose your bladder infection at home by purchasing a testing strip at any pharmacy. If you have a positive diagnosis, you can begin utilizing some home remedies to clear up the infection.
  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

    • Use apple cider vinegar as a drink or as a soak when you have a bladder infection.

Add 2 tablespoons of it to an 8-ounce glass of water and drink it down. Do this each time you drink a glass of water, which should be eight times a day. The water and the apple cider vinegar will flush out your system and get rid of the bacteria that is causing your bladder infection. It is important that you do this, even though it will make you urinate more often. It may still be painful when you urinate, but the symptoms will gradually begin to improve until your body is totally free from the infection.

The other way is to pour 1 cup of apple cider vinegar into a bathtub of warm water and then soak in it for 15 minutes. Do this once per day. You can also use this as a method to prevent bladder infections.

    Cranberry Juice

    • Most people know that cranberry juice is effective in getting rid of bladder infections, but they aren't sure why. Cranberry juice contains hippuric acid, which works to keep the bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder as well as to the urinary tract. If the bacteria can't stick to the body, they are flushed out with the urine.

You will need to drink three glasses of cranberry juice each day until you feel better. It would be beneficial to continue drinking the cranberry juice for at least a week after your symptoms have disappeared to ensure that the bladder infection doesn't come back.

    Goldenrod Tea

    • Goldenrod is well known as a diuretic, which means that it works to flush out the urinary tract. You can purchase goldenrod tea bags online (see Resources) or at your local health food store.

Pour boiling water over a goldenrod teabags and let it steep for 4 minutes; add sweetener if desired. Drink this tea two to four times each day until your bladder infection is gone.
