Symptoms: Frequent Urination

Frequent urination can be a symptom of many different conditions, diseases and disorders. Some of these are minor and some are more serious. Therefore, when experiencing frequent urination it is important to look into other symptoms of conditions about which you are concerned. It is also important to know that frequent urination is often not caused by any disorder and is nothing over which to be concerned.
  1. Urinary Tract Infection

    • Frequent urination is often a sign of a urinary tract infection, which is a bacterial infection that is relatively easy to treat.

    Diabetes

    • Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as diabetes insipidus, can result in excessive urination.

    Kidney Disorders

    • Kidney conditions, such as nephritis, can also cause frequent urination.

    Prostate Conditions

    • Prostate conditions, such as enlarged prostate and prostatitis, can cause excessive urination.

    Benign Causes

    • Frequent urination is not always a sign of trouble, as it is sometimes simply a function of aging or the result of drinking lots of alcohol, coffee or water.
