Take calcium citrate to neutralize a UTI. The alkaline pH of calcium citrate helps reduce UTI's effects during which the acid content of the urine increases.

Take about 4 to 6 1,000 mg capsules a day, 2 tablets at a time.

Take calcium citrate at least 3 hours before bedtime. Urine remains in the bladder while you are sleeping, and may cause irritation.

Take calcium citrate tablets with an 8-oz. glass of water for better absorption without indigestion.

Take calcium citrate with meals for better absorbency.

Take an increased dose of 4,000 to 6,000 mg calcium citrate until symptoms of a UTI decrease. Reduce the dose to 2,000 mg a day until the UTI is completely treated.
