1
Purchase a Dipstick test at your local pharmacy. They are sometimes kept behind the counter so you will have to ask the pharmacist for the item. Be sure to ask for the UTI test strips.
-
2
Take the strips home and urinate into a cup or container. You can also urinate directly onto the stick, however it is more accurate to use a cup or container.
-
3
Dip the stick into the cup or container that holds your urine. Leave the stick for 10 seconds then remove it from the cup or container and set it aside.
-
4
Within 2 minutes the results will appear on the test strip. A negative result means there is no sign of infection in the urine. A positive result means there is infection in the urine.
-
5
You can also gauge whether your infection is gone or not buy watching your symptoms. If you still feel a frequent urge to urinate and feel a burning sensation when you urinate, the infection is likely still in your system and you should see a doctor.
