How to Beat Prostate Problems
-
1
Consider choosing a natural supplement. Many have been clinically proven to be as effective as conventional treatments but without the side effects. There are a number of specific herbs and extracts that are most beneficial in combination.
-
2
Choose a supplement containing pygeum. The pygeum bark contains three groups of active constituents: phytosterols (including beta-sitosterol), which improve urination flow, reduce abdominal heaviness and frequent urination, pentacyclic triterpenoids which have anti-cancer properties and ferulic esters which have anti-inflammatory effects and inhibit the production of prostaglandins. This herb has been used in France for more than 20 years, to treat patients suffering from BPH. It is known to reduce growth factors which cause prostate hypertrophy and also to reduce symptoms and healing time. Pygeum, in combination with Saw Palmetto, has an in increased anti-inflammatory effect because of their synergistic relationship.

Look out for Saw Palmetto. Saw Palmetto is rich in fatty acids, sterols, and esters. Its beneficial actions are due to inhibition of the chemical responsible for prostate growth. Additionally, these constituents also appear to have an anti-inflammatory action within the prostate gland. Saw Palmetto has been found to be equally effective as the conventional medication, Proscar, but without any side effects. The liposterolic extract from Saw Palmetto have been used throughout Europe for years to treat BPH. The extract reduces hyperplasia by blocking the production of growth factor which leads to enlarged prostate. Saw Palmetto causes less sexual impairment than other treatments and fewer other side effects

Remember the importance of zinc. Zinc intake and absorption is critical for the prostate, especially during BPH. Zinc’s beneficial effects include reducing the size of the swollen prostate and symptoms including regulation of urinary flow and reducing prostate pain. It is also responsible for maintaining healthy levels of estrogen, Helps keep cholesterol levels down, (high cholesterol increases rate of prostate cancer), and has anti-tumor effects.

5
Include nettle root. Nettle root reduces prostate size without side effects. Saw Palmetto, along with nettle, is approved by the German Commission A as a treatment for BPH. It inhibits the growth of prostate cells and prevents the increase in levels of estrogen.
-
6
Choose lycopene. Lycopene reduces symptoms such as prostate pain, delayed urinary flow and prostate swelling, as well as reducing the risk of prostate cancer. Concentrated lycopene has been shown to have greater effects than food sources.
-
7
Include selenium. Selenium helps with a number of specific symptoms including dribbling, impotence, urinary delay and swollen prostate. Selenium is a potent anti-oxidant and in conjunction with Vitamin E can help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
-
8
Include vitamins E and D3. Vitamin E has anti-cancer properties which are enhanced when it is combined with selenium.Vitamin D3 helps with the production of enzymes which inhibit free radicals, which are responsible for damaging DNA and ultimately leading to cancer.
-
9
Include isoflavones. In countries such as Japan, where isoflavones rich foods such as soy are consumed regularly, the risk of prostate cancer is five times lower than in the USA. Isoflavones reduce the risk of prostate cancer be regulating testosterone levels.
