How to Nurse Meningitis

Meningitis is a contagious infection of the layer of tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Germs can be passed through coughing and sneezing. Meningitis infections occur mostly in children, teens and young adults. Older adults with a weakened immune system are also at risk. There are two types of meningitis: viral and bacterial. Bacterial meningitis can lead to brain damage or coma and should be treated right away by a professional. Viral meningitis is very similar to the flu, and sometimes goes undiagnosed. The following steps for nursing viral meningitis is only recommended for patients who have been diagnosed with mild cases.
