How did the people think plague was transferred?
* Through the air: People believed that plague was spread through the air, and that it could be transmitted by contact with an infected person or animal, or by inhaling the air in an infected area. This belief led to the practice of quarantining infected individuals and avoiding contact with those who had been exposed to the disease.* Through contact with contaminated objects: People also believed that plague could be spread through contact with contaminated objects, such as clothing, bedding, or furniture. This belief led to the practice of burning or fumigating infected items and avoiding contact with anything that had been touched by an infected person.
* Through animals: People believed that animals, particularly rodents, could carry and transmit plague. This belief led to the practice of killing rats and other rodents in an effort to prevent the spread of the disease.
