Why do bumps reappear after scabies are gone?
Scabies is a skin condition caused by a tiny mite that burrows under the skin. These mites can cause intense itching and a pimple-like rash. While scabies can be treated with medication, it is not uncommon for the bumps to reappear after the treatment has been completed.
There are a few reasons why this may happen:
* The treatment was not completed. Scabies treatment typically involves applying a medicated cream or lotion to the entire body for a period of time. If the treatment is not completed, or if it was not applied correctly, the mites may not be completely killed and the scabies may return.
* Re-infestation. Scabies can be spread through close contact with an infected person or animal. If someone who has been treated for scabies comes into contact with an infected person or animal, they may become re-infested with the mites.
* Allergic reaction. In some cases, the bumps that reappear after scabies are gone may be an allergic reaction to the mites or their eggs. This can cause intense itching and a rash that may resemble scabies.
If you are experiencing recurrent bumps after scabies treatment, it is important to see a doctor to determine the cause and get appropriate treatment.
