Compound W to Get Rid of Plantars Warts

Plantar warts are warts that grow on the bottom of your foot and can be extremely painful and difficult to get rid of. If you want to avoid a trip to the podiatrist, you might opt for the over-the-counter wart removal medication Compound W. These products can work as well as professional medical treatments to remove plantar warts as long as you carefully follow directions and stick with the treatment.
  1. Compound W Pads

    • Compound W pads are small adhesive pads that look like small bandages. They contain the Compound W formula designed to kill plantar warts. These adhesive pads work best on plantar warts that are small and just beginning on the foot; the pads will have little to no effect on larger, more established warts. It's also a good idea to secure these pads around the foot with medical tape, to keep the pads in place inside a sock and shoe.

    Compound W Liquid and Gel

    • Compound W liquid and gel are meant for all sizes of warts and are best at removing plantar warts that have been present on the foot for a long period of time and are very well established. However, the gel and liquid need to be able to get to the root of the wart to effectively kill it, so sanding or shaving off the surface dead skin of the plantar wart itself must be done before applying the liquid or gel to it. By soaking your foot and then using a file or pumice stone meant for softly removing dead skin, you can make the gel or liquid much more effective when applied to the plantar warts. Allow the liquid or gel to dry on the plantar wart and then wrap it in gauze so it won't be scraped off by socks and shoes.

    Compound W Freeze Off

    • Compound W Freeze Off is a medical device that is sold over the counter that will freeze off warts in as little as one application. Freeze Off contains a solution with a mixture that is similar to the nitroglycerin that is applied to warts at a podiatrist's office, though Freeze Off is a less exact application. This treatment of plantar warts is best for small warts that have just started in the foot that you want to remove quickly and efficiently. The Freeze Off applicator is more expensive than the other Compound W products.
