What is a wart in medical term?
In medical terms, a wart is known as a verruca. Verrucae are classified into two main types:
* Common warts (verruca vulgaris): These are the most common type of wart and usually occur on the hands and feet.
* Plantar warts (verruca plantaris): These warts occur on the soles of the feet and can be very painful.
Warts can also be classified according to their appearance:
* Filiform warts: These are thin, thread-like warts that often occur around the eyes, nose, and mouth.
* Flat warts (verruca plana): These are small, flat warts that can occur anywhere on the body.
* Condyloma acuminata (genital warts): These are warts that occur in the genital area.
Warts are usually harmless but can be unsightly and uncomfortable. There are a number of treatments available for warts, including topical medications, cryotherapy (freezing), and laser therapy.
