How to Use Compound W Freeze Off

Warts are a common skin condition caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are raised bumps on the surface of the skin and range in color from white to tan. According to MayoClinic.com, most warts will clear up on their own and don't require treatment: "They usually disappear within two years, though new ones may develop nearby." That said, you might find warts unsightly or embarrassing. An over-the-counter wart remover such as Compound W Freeze Off can help.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the applicator stick into the handle. The applicator is a stick with a foam tip, and it should be pressed firmly into the handle.

    • 2

Set the aerosol can upright on a level work surface. Fit the handle with the applicator attached into the top of the can. Slide the handle around until the notches are lined up.

    • 3

Keep the can apparatus on a level surface, and press down on the handle. This will cause the handle to fill with the cold liquid medicine. While it fills, you will hear a hissing sound. Continue pressing for three seconds to saturate the applicator tip with liquid.

    • 4

Remove the handle from the can. The applicator will now be full of the freezing compound.

    • 5

Press the tip of the foam applicator directly onto the wart. Hold firmly in place for 20 seconds. Most warts require 20 seconds, but if the wart is small, it might require less time. You might notice a stinging or aching sensation. This is normal.

    • 6

Remove the applicator tip after the recommended time is up, and discard the tip. Do not reuse it.
