Information on Salex Lotion
Salex lotion is a topical medication used to treat skin conditions characterized by excessive scaling or overgrowth of skin cells such as psoriasis, ichthyoses, corns, calluses, dandruff and warts on hands or feet.-
How it Works
-
Containing 6 percent salicylic acid, the lotion works by causing the horny layer of skin to swell, soften and then slough or peel in areas where it is applied while not affecting the epidermis health.
Administration
-
Only apply the lotion to the areas of skin that are affected by the skin condition and following the prescription label carefully. Do not apply to large areas of the body unless prescribed by a doctor. Do not cover the treated skin with a bandage or dressing unless advised by a doctor. Do not apply the lotion to skin that is broken, red, swollen, irritated or infected.
Side Effects
-
Some side effects, like skin irritation and stinging where the lotion has been applied, are minor. However, if they are severe or do not disappear, consult a doctor. Other side effects that are considered serious may appear. Call a doctor immediately if you experience any dizziness, hearing loss, nausea, vomiting, confusion, ringing or buzzing in the ears, fast breathing or diarrhea.
