How to Remove Tattoo Scars
If you get your tattoo from a reputable, licensed tattoo artist, the chances of scarring are minimal. However, for skin that is especially prone to scarring, you may find that you have unsightly marks around your tattoo. Tattoo removal, which is most often done with lasers but can also be done with dermabrasion or a surgical excision, may leave scars as well. There is no foolproof way to get rid of all scars, but certain treatments may help to greatly minimize their appearance.Things You'll Need
- Alpha hydroxy acid cleanser
- Scar treatment cream
- Sunscreen
- Vitamin E oil
Instructions

1
Wash your scar with a facial cleanser containing alpha hydroxy acids. These are available in the skin care section of your pharmacy
-
2
Rub a scar treatment cream containing silicone and onion extract into your scar twice a day. Massage the scar for two minutes each time to help break down the bound collagen fibers that cause the skin to become raised and discolored.
-
3
Apply sunscreen to your scar every time you go outside. Just as the sun tans your skin, it can also cause your scar to become darker.
-
4
Rub vitamin E oil into your scar once a day, unless you are also using a scar treatment cream that contains vitamin E.
-
5
Consult a plastic surgeon if your scars persist despite the above remedies. Collagen injections and chemical peels can help minimize the appearance of your scars.
