What Is Iodosorb?
Iodosorb/Iodoflex represent the brand names of the cadexomer iodine-based products used to treat chronic exuding wounds and sores such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers. The distributor offer both gel and dressing solutions.-
Iodosorb/Iodoflex Dressing
-
The Iodosorb dressing consists of a hydrophilic, yellow-brown bead matrix that contains 0.9 percent elemental iodine. The iodine, which also exhibits antibacterial properties, slowly releases as the beads absorb the fluid from the wound or aqueous solutions. If the dressing is placed on a sloughy or infected wound, Iodosorb's capillary action will draw up the bacteria where it becomes trapped in between the beads.
Iodosorb/Iodoflex Gel
-
Iodosorb Gel contains 0.9 percent elemental iodine and utilizes the same sloughing and siphoning properties as the dressing. Potential side effects include mild irritation, pain, redness or swelling at site of application.
