How to Remove Fiberglass Splinters

On occasion when you are working with fiberglass, you may come away with fiberglass splinters, or spicules. Fiberglass is sometimes difficult to remove from the skin because of the fiber's tendency to break when pressure is applied to them. However, there are a couple of other ways, besides tweezers, to try to remove fiberglass splinters.

• Sticky tape
• Wax hair remover kit
• Microwave
• General white glue

  Touch the area gently with a very sticky tape, such as packing tape. Dab the area with the tape to see if the fiberglass spicules stick to it and come out.

  Heat the wax from a wax hair removal kit for 10 seconds in the microwave. Spread a layer of the wax over the area where the fiberglass splinters are and cover it with the cloth strip from the kit. Allow the area to dry for 5 minutes and pull the cloth and wax off, removing the fiberglass splinters as well.

  Spread a layer of general white glue on the area of the fiberglass spicules. Allow the glue to dry completely and peel the glue off of your skin. The spicules should come out with the glue.
