Dermabond for Infection

• This product is a liquid. It is a bonding agent, or adhesive, that can act in the same manner as traditional stitches. Unlike stitches, Dermabond also protects your injury from bacteria.

Misconceptions

• Dermabond cannot treat an already existing infection, but it can help prevent a wound from becoming infected in the first place.

Application

• Dermabond can be applied by your doctor. It will dry and bond in less than three minutes.

Considerations

• This product is waterproof. Even if you bathe, your wound will still be protected from infection. However, you'll need to refrain from scrubbing at the area. Pat it dry gently.

Removal

• Unlike stitches, Dermabond does not need to be removed. It will come off naturally as your wound heals.
