How to Evaluate Range of Motion in Extremities
Range of motion is the amount of movement of a body part, such as in the extremities or limbs, involving joint mobility. Evaluation of range of motion requires knowledge of the specific movement of the joint to be tested which can be attained through education in a health care field such as physical therapy, as well as the normal or acceptable amount of movement necessary for functional activities. Amount of movement is measured through the use of a goniometer, an instrument to measure angles, available at professional health care equipment vendors.Things You'll Need
- goniometer
