Check for any irritation such as redness of the skin or pain in a specific area of the body. Common spider bites may not be readily visible, and some people don’t even feel the actual bite.

Figure out if you felt a pinprick. If so, you may have been bitten by a black widow spider and symptoms may include an immediate burning, swelling, redness, and pain in the affected area. You may be able to see double fang marks on the skin.

Realize that you may have been bitten by a venomous spider if you experience cramps or pain in your abdomen which worsens over time. You may have trouble breathing, and you may get sick to your stomach and have to vomit. A headache will most likely round out the miserable symptoms.

Notice if there’s any twitching, shaking or tingling in one or both hands.
