How to Treat a Swollen Lip Naturally
Are you wondering how to treat a swollen lip? Most of us have had one at least once in or lives. And, you don't necessarily need to suffer a punch in the mouth to sustain one. It can happen during a fall. You can have a ball hit you in the lip. Anything that makes contact with your lip can eventually cause your lip to swell.Your main concern will be to stop any bleeding that may be happening and to bring the swelling down. For the bleeding, you'll need to clean the wound and put pressure on it. If it doesn't stop bleeding, you may need medical attention and/or stitches. Get that help immediately.
This article assumes that either the bleeding is under control or there was never any bleeding in the first place. The main concern here will be to bring down the swelling, which I will review in the following steps.
Things You'll Need
- Something cold (e.g. ice pack, bag of frozen fruit, package of frozen meat)

Determine why your lip is swollen. It could be because you actually got hit in the mouth-but sometimes a swollen lip can indicate another problem, such as an allergic reaction. Seek medical attention if it is anything more than a hit to the mouth or if there is excess bleeding, pain or a loose tooth as a result of a direct hit.

It is very important to ice the swelling, no matter what the cause is. For this you can use an ice pack or a package of frozen vegetables, fruit or meat.

Arnica gel is good for swelling that is not accompanied with bleeding. Never apply the arnica to an open wound or inside the mouth. Keep it away from saliva. If the swelling is mainly inside the mouth or the skin is broken, take the internal remedy.

Vitamin C is an important vitamin when it comes to healing bruised tissues and skin. Follow the instructions on the package for the correct dosage. This also works on an allergic reaction because Vitamin C is also an antihistamine.
