Instructions

    • 1

Examine the area of your facial injury carefully in order to avoid doing further damage. If there is an excessive amount of bleeding then apply pressure and seek immediate medical attention.

    • 2

Carefully clean the area. If the skin has been broken then carefully swab at the area with warm, soapy water that's been applied to a towel until the wound appears clean. Pat to dry completely.

    • 3

Carefully apply antibiotic ointment to the wound and the immediate area around the entire facial injury, dabbing gently.

    • 4

Cover the wounded area with an aseptic bandage, applying medical-grade tape if necessary to keep it in place.

    • 5

Change the bandage on your facial injury often, every 8 to 12 hours at least and keep an eye out for signs of infection including swelling, redness, oozing pus, and increased pain. If infection occurs, seek immediate medical attention.
