Why do I have a red bruise with scab?
There are a number of reasons why someone may have a red bruise with a scab.
* Injury: Bruises are typically caused by blunt trauma to the skin. This can occur during a fall, sports activity, or other type of accident. When the skin is damaged, blood vessels break and blood leaks into the surrounding tissue, causing a bruise to form.
* Blood clotting disorder: Some people have a blood clotting disorder that makes them more likely to bruise. This can be caused by a number of things, such as a vitamin K deficiency, hemophilia, or certain medications.
* Infection: A bruise that becomes infected can also appear red and have a scab. This is because the infection causes inflammation and swelling, which can make the bruise look worse.
* Skin condition: Some skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis, can also cause red, scaly patches of skin. If you have a skin condition, you should see your doctor to rule out any other possible causes of the bruise.
In most cases, a bruise will heal on its own within a few weeks. However, if you have a bruise that is large, painful, or does not heal after a few weeks, you should see your doctor.
