Why does a wound appear warm?

There are a few reasons why a wound may appear warm.

1. Increased blood flow. When you are injured, your body sends more blood to the area to help it heal. This increased blood flow can cause the skin around the wound to feel warm.

2. Inflammation. Inflammation is a natural response to injury that helps to protect the body from infection and damage. Inflammation can also cause the skin to feel warm and swollen.

3. Infection. Infection can also cause the skin around a wound to feel warm. This is because infection causes the release of toxins that can damage the skin and tissue.

If you have a wound that is warm to the touch, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
