What should you do if the wound bleeds through emergency bandage?

If a wound bleeds heavily, soaking through emergency bandage, you should take the following steps

- Apply pressure to the wound by directly pressing onto it with clean cloth or gauze. Applying pressure helps reduce bleeding by allowing the blood to clot.

- Elevate the injured area, if possible, above the level of the heart. Elevating the area helps to slow the flow of blood to the wound.

- If the pressure and elevation do not control bleeding, apply another clean cloth or gauze on top and continue to apply pressure. It is important not to remove the first layer of bandage, as it may contain blood clots necessary for clotting process.

- Try to keep the person calm, as anxiety can increase the heart rate and worsen the bleeding.

- If the bleeding persists or is very severe, seek urgent medical attention. It may require medical intervention such as suturing or cauterization to control bleeding.
