How to Make Homemade Ice Packs With Dish Soap

It's a good idea to keep a few dish soap ice packs in the freezer in case you suddenly need one for a sprain or a headache. They can also be used for such non-emergency purposes as keeping food or drinks cold in a lunch bag. Since you're not concerned with the soap's scent or how well it cleans your dishes, save some money by purchasing a no-frills brand from a dollar store to make the ice packs.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1/2 cup of liquid dish soap into a measuring cup.

    • 2

Empty the liquid dish soap from the measuring cup into a plastic sandwich bag that has a seal.

    • 3

Press against the top of the bag to remove any air inside of it.

    • 4

      Seal the bag.

    • 5

Wrap a continuous strip of clear packing tape around the bag's seal to secure it.

    • 6

Lay the plastic bag flat on it's side in the freezer. Gently press the bag's surface so the soap is evenly distributed throughout the bag.

    • 7

Leave the bag in the freezer until the dish soap is completely frozen.
