What teeth does a 4 year old get?

At the age of 4 years, toddlers have a mixture of baby teeth and adult teeth. The eruption of permanent teeth marks the beginning of the middle childhood stage of dental development. At this age, the 4-year-old should have:

- 20 primary teeth comprising:

- 8 Incisors (front top and bottom teeth)

- 4 Canines (pointed teeth next to incisors)

- 8 Molars (back teeth used for chewing)

- 4 permanent molars: 2 upper molars and 2 lower molars. These are also known as the first permanent molars or 6-year molars since they usually come in around 6 years old.
