Different Braces for Teeth

Braces in today's world come in an array of different ideas, colors and materials. Finding that perfect smile can be a lot easier and look much less painful. Braces are able to be clear, removable or even placed behind your teeth. Depending on your budget, there is a braces style for you.
  1. Clear Sapphire Inspire Braces

    • Inspire brand braces contain monocrystalline sapphire and are very durable. The have the same concept as metal braces in that there is a brace cemented to each tooth, the only difference is that these are white, so if your teeth are relatively white, most people will not be able to see the brackets. The Inspire braces will look as though you have a retainer in your mouth from the metal bar that will run along the front of your teeth. These are every bit as good as traditional braces, but may need to stay on the teeth a couple more months than traditional.

    Invisalign

    • Invisalign works a little slower than braces, but for most are often the best choice because not only is it clear, but also removable. Invisalign looks like a mouth guard that has been specifically designed for that person. During the process of straightening the teeth, newer mouth pieces will be molded until you get that smile you are happy with. Regular monthly checkups are still needed. The only downfall with Invisalign is if you have certain severe problems with your mouth, this treatment may not be for you. Consulting with your orthodontist will let you know if this is the right treatment or not.

    Lingual Braces

    • Lingual braces are a little different from other types of braces because these are placed behind the teeth. Lingual brackets are specifically designed for each tooth, and your dentist will have to have had additional training in order to offer this service. Lingual braces are more common amongst adults because they want the benefits of having braces but without the look of standard braces. As this type of brace takes more time in not just putting them on, but every check up, the price of these braces is going to be substantially more.

    Metal Braces

    • Metal braces are the most common type of brace used in orthodontics because they are quicker and easier to install than most. Metal braces have been around for quite a while, but today's metal braces are much smaller than before. These are most popular among young teenagers, and orthodontists can place colored rubber bands around the metal to give your mouth a new, more colorful look. These are most commonly the cheapest form of braces.

    Costs

    • The costs of braces are going to vary by not only what type of work you get done but also what part of the country you are in. Traditional or metal braces on average cost $5,400 up to $7,600. If ceramic braces are what you want, you can look at about another $500 and if Lingual braces are your option, those can be an additional $2,000 to $5,000. Invisalign can be a little cheaper at about $3,500 but on average for the nation it is $5,000.
