There are many factors that play into determining the actual cost. If you are getting the traditional "railroad track" looking braces, you have a few options.

Ceramic brackets that are tooth colored to blend in with your enamel are an additional $500.

Lingual or concealed braces are an additional $2,000-$5,000. These braces are actually placed on the inside surface of your teeth where your tongue is. These are a lot harder to install so make sure that you get an orthodontist who is specially trained.

If you do not want traditional braces, there is now an option for invisible, clear braces. They are called Invisalign. Invisalign consists of a clear, plastic tray that is formed to the shape of your teeth. Every two weeks, you replace the tray with a new Invisalign tray that is a little bit different in order to move your teeth around. Invisalign can be removed for meals and most adults prefer this form of braces because it is less noticable. However, Invisalign cannot correct severe bite problems. There are many factors that contribute to the cost of Invisalign as well, but the average is around $5,000 nationwide. For more information about Invisalign, see the resources section below.
