What is the difference between a cortical cancellous bone graft and vascularized graft?

Cortical cancellous bone graft

* Composed of both cortical and cancellous bone

* Harvested from the iliac crest or other flat bones

* Provides structural support and allows for the growth of new bone

* Often used in orthopedic surgeries, such as hip replacements and spinal fusions

Vascularized bone graft

* Composed of living bone tissue that contains blood vessels

* Harvested from a donor site, such as the fibula or rib

* Transferred to the recipient site with its blood supply intact

* Allows for the immediate transfer of nutrients and oxygen to the graft, promoting rapid healing

* Often used in reconstructive surgeries, such as jaw reconstruction and limb salvage
