The Average Cost of Invisiline

Invisalign is a dental treatment for crooked teeth that is an alternative to braces. It eliminates the need for wires and metal work that can be embarrassing and, in some circumstances, unsightly. There is no universal cost number for the Invisalign procedure, and there are several factors that will influence the overall cost of the treatment.
  1. Function

    • The Invisalign treatment uses plastic molds that have been created specifically for your teeth to slowly move the teeth into proper position. Every two weeks, the molds are replaced with ones that are slightly straighter until your teeth are in the proper positions. The Invisalign molds are see-through and do not create the social stigma of traditional metal braces.

    Benefits

    • The Invisalign procedure begins with using 3 dimensional computer technology to create an exact image of your teeth and jaw. Then it creates a digital representation of your Invisalign braces and deduces exactly how long the treatment will last. You will get to see your entire treatment plan before ever leaving the office and will be able to determine if the Invisalign treatment is right for you.

    Average Cost

    • According to Invisalign.com, as of 2010 the national average cost of the treatment is about $5,000, but can be as low as $3,500 for easier cases. There are many factors that can affect the overall cost of the treatment, including the individual providers' own orthodontic fees, the cost of living in your area, and the length of time you'll need to use the molds (the longer you use them, the more expensive the procedure).

    Insurance

    • Your insurance company may cover Invisalign as an orthodontic procedure, but you should find out beforehand. There may be different co-pays, deductibles and coverage since this is not a traditional medical procedure. Your insurance company may consider this an elective procedure. All this can affect the final price.

    Considerations

    • There are alternative ways for paying for the procedure outside of insurance. Your employer may have a flexible spending account program that allows you to have a set amount of money available for medical expenses at the beginning of the year that you can use. Also, the doctor or Invisalign have options for third party financing, similar to the loan method you might use when buying a car.
