Can braces on after i already had them?
In some cases, a person may need to wear braces again after previously having them.
Here are a few reasons why braces might be needed a second time:
Relapse: After braces have been removed, the teeth may shift back to their original position over time. This is called relapse. It can occur due to various factors, including genetics, poor oral hygiene, or certain habits like thumb sucking. If relapse occurs, braces may be necessary to correct the alignment of the teeth again.
Treatment plan changes: The initial treatment plan may change due to unexpected circumstances, such as the growth and development of the jaw. As a result, additional treatment with braces may be required to achieve the desired results.
Corrections: In some cases, the initial treatment may not have addressed all the necessary corrections. For instance, if a particular tooth did not align properly during the first round of treatment, additional adjustments with braces may be required.
Jaw surgery: In some cases, individuals who undergo jaw surgery may need braces as part of their treatment. This helps ensure proper alignment of the teeth after the surgical procedure.
It is important to note that the decision to get braces again is made in consultation with an orthodontist. The orthodontist will evaluate the individual's dental and facial structure and determine the appropriate treatment plan based on their specific needs.
