What two things happen to the image in cerebrum?

1. The image is flipped upside down. This is because the optic nerves cross over at the optic chiasm, which means that the information from the left eye goes to the right hemisphere of the brain, and the information from the right eye goes to the left hemisphere.

2. The image is compressed. This is because the visual cortex in the cerebrum is much smaller than the retina in the eye. As a result, the information from the retina has to be compressed in order to fit into the visual cortex.
