Types of Poligrip

Super Poligrip is a line of denture adhesive products by GlaxoSmithKline, a healthcare company that produces prescription medicines, vaccines, dermatological and consumer healthcare products. There are several types of Poligrip, which can be used along with Polident, a daily denture cleanser. The wide range of Poligrip products is advantageous to denture wearers because not all mouths or dentures are created equal. While some dentures fit well with little adhesive, other dentures may require a stronger bond.

Super Poligrip Original

• Super Poligrip Original is the original denture adhesive among the Poligrip family. This is a denture adhesive cream that is applied to the insides of dentures before fitting them inside the mouth. It is a zinc-free formula with a pink color. It is available with a peppermint-spearmint flavor. It is made of sodium-calcium mixed partial salt, petrolatum, cellulose gum, mineral oil, flavor, Red 30 aluminum lake, 7 calcium lake and poly(methylvinylether/maleic acid).

Super Poligrip Free

• Super Poligrip Free is similar to the original product, but it contains no artificial colors or flavors. It is a denture adhesive cream that is applied to the inside of dentures and boasts Poligrip's all-day hold promise. It has the same ooze-control tip to make application less messy. The ingredients of Super Poligrip Free are poly(methylvinylether/maleic acid), sodium-calcium mixed partial salt, petrolatum, cellulose gum and mineral oil.

Super Poligrip Extra Care

• Super Poligrip Extra Care is a denture adhesive cream designed for denture wearers who suffer from gum irritation. Gum irritation can be caused by ill-fitting dentures, wearing dentures for prolonged periods of time and is a common problem in the adjustment period for new dentures. Super Poligrip Extra Care contains poly(methylvinylether/maleic acid), sodium-calcium mixed partial salt, petrolatum, cellulose gum, mineral oil, dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate, methylparaben and ethylparaben.

Super Poligrip Ultra Fresh

• Super Poligrip Ultra Fresh is another zinc-free denture adhesive cream in the Poligrip line. It is very similar to Super Poligrip Original, but its formula boasts an ultra minty flavor to help achieve fresher breath. This formula is especially helpful in combating denture breath, a common problem that occurs when dentures are not cleaned thoroughly. The ingredients are poly(methylvinylether/maleic acid), sodium-calcium mixed partial salt, petrolatum, cellulose gum, mineral oil, flavor, Red 30 aluminum lake and Red 7 calcium lake.

Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips

• Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips may be preferred by many denture wearers for their ease of application. There is no easy cream to apply because this product has precut strips with adhesive already applied. The strips are moistened, put in place on dry dentures and placed in the mouth to help seal out food particles. This product contains PEG-90M, microcrystalline wax, polybutene and cellulose gum.

Extra Strength Super Poligrip Powder

• Extra Strength Super Poligrip Powder is the ideal alternative for denture wearers who don't wish to use cream or denture strips. The powder is sprinkled onto clean, wet dentures and then placed in the mouth, with the same all-day hold promised by other Poligrip products. It contains no colors or added flavors. The ingredients include cellulose gum, poly(methylvinylether/maleic acid), sodium-calcium mixed partial salt and flavor.
