There are quite a few grants available to dental researchers. Dental research grants are funded by non-profit organizations, associations and public corporations. Grants have specific guidelines for proposals, and funding can be highly competitive.
  1. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research

    • According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, they are the leading funder of dental research. The institute offers many grants to researchers investigating oral, dental and craniofacial topics. Grants are offered to qualified researchers worldwide, typically conducting research at universities. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

    The Academy of Osseointegration

    • The Academy of Osseointegration offers an annual grant award of $10,000 to a researcher studying dental implants. The researcher must be associated with an academic association accredited by the American Dental Association. Applications should include a proposal for research, budget and a letter of support. The application deadline is in October.

    The International Association for Dental Research

    • The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) provides the Education Research Group Grant to dental researchers studying dental education. Funding of $1,000 is awarded to a single researcher annually. Applicants must be members of the IADR Education Research Group. Applications should include a brief summary of the project and are due by February.

    The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Research Foundation

    • The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Research Foundation provides up to $25,000 in grant funding to researchers investigating dental implants. There are no eligibility requirements pertaining to the researcher's scientific discipline. Applicants should submit a proposal detailing the research project and budget and a biographical sketch. The application deadline is in August.
