How to Use Denture Strips

If your dentist has recommended dentures, then you have a few different options for securing them to your gums. You can use a paste, or you can also use denture strips. These strips are essentially double-sided tape that sticks to the inside of the dentures, then presses up against your gums. These are suggested for use on the lower dentures only and it takes just a few minutes to apply them correctly.

• Denture cleaner
• Towel
• Scissors

  Clean the dentures thoroughly using the denture cleaner. Dry the dentures out using a towel.

  Test fit the denture strip on the top of the denture mounting surface and trim the strip to fit the dentures using the scissors if necessary.

  Bend the denture strip slightly and remove the foil on the denture strip. Press the denture strip onto the denture and work out any air bubbles from the strip using your fingers.

  Put the dentures into your mouth. Bite down firmly to secure the dentures to your gums. Wait for 15 minutes before you put any food or liquid in your mouth.
