What Can I Eat With New Dentures?
If you have lost all or some of your natural teeth due to injury, gum disease or tooth decay, dentures can enable you to eat and speak naturally. They will also improve your overall appearance and self-esteem.-
Types of Dentures
-
There are conventional dentures and immediate dentures. Conventional dentures are placed into your mouth a few months after your teeth have been removed. Immediate dentures are placed into your mouth immediately after your teeth are removed. Immediate dentures may need to be re-sized once the tissue from your tooth loss has healed.
Denture Care
-
You should brush your gums and tongue everyday before putting in your dentures. Brush your dentures daily and place them in a soaking solution or water when you are not wearing them.
Eating with Dentures
-
When you first get your dentures, eat soft food that has been cut up into small pieces. Chew slowly using both sides of your mouth in order to prevent your dentures from tipping. Other foods can be added to your diet as chewing becomes a more natural activity. Be careful of hot food or food that is hard or sharp.
