Advanced Cosmetic & Laser Dentistry

While cavities, root canals, x-rays and cleanings can be the dreaded side of dentistry, that dental chair and suction tube don't have to be a dreaded punishment. Dentistry also has a lighter side--or rather, a cosmetic side. Advanced cosmetic dentistry, along with laser dentistry, can help patients perfect their smiles with the use of implants, whitening, straightening and shaping the teeth.
  1. Dental Implants

    • Dental implantation is an advanced dental procedure that can restore unhealthy or missing teeth without the inconvenience of dentures. Dental implants are custom-created from porcelain to match the size and shape of a patient's existing teeth. The porcelain tooth is then implanted into the jaw bone by means of a strong titanium root, which fuses with the jaw bone to form a permanent root.

Dental implants can replace a single tooth or an entire set, depending on the patient's needs.

    Invisalign

    • For those patients who are unhappy with their teeth alignment, but who don't want traditional wire braces, Invisalign offers an invisible way to straighten teeth over time. During the Invisalign treatment, the dentist creates custom, clear trays that fit over the teeth and are worn at all times other than to eat, brush or floss teeth. The invisible aligners are changed about every two weeks until the desired alignment is reached.

    Veneers and Crowns

    • Porcelain veneers and crowns can greatly improve the appearance of a patient's teeth. Without removing and replacing an entire tooth, veneers are bonded to the original tooth structure and can help improve the size and color of the tooth. Veneers can be placed over all of a patient's teeth for a custom smile.

Crowns, also molded from porcelain, act as a "slip cover" over the original tooth and can protect the structure of the tooth while improving color and shape.

    Advanced Laser Dentistry

    • With new technologies available, many dental offices now use lasers to perform cosmetic dentistry. Lasers provide thorough cleaning and whiten teeth. Soft tissue lasers are also used to prepare the gums for dental implantation, crowns or veneers, and to cauterise gums during the procedures.

    Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry

    • The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry is a national organization that provides clinical training and up-to-date information on laser technologies and dental procedures. The institute currently keeps on staff 25 certified laser dentistry specialists who can provide training and informational courses to dental practices and professionals around the country.
