How To Sand Dentures
-
1
Repair dentures based on repair kit directions. Generally the repairs consist of removing the damaged tooth, replacing with the new tooth contained in the kit and securing the replacement tooth with a putty created by combining a powder polymer and liquid polymer. The denture should be placed in warm water to bond the replacement tooth to existing dentures. Adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions for the time frame that dentures should soak in warm water. Do not use hot water for this process, because the putty mixture may not adhere properly. Gently dry dentures after a predetermined time in warm water.

2
Sand the replacement tooth. The replacement tooth area may feel rough, so sanding reduces this problem. Use a piece of fine sand paper or emery paper for the sanding process. Most kits include the appropriate item for sanding that works best with the product. Sanding gives a smooth feel to the replacement tooth and assists in ensuring a better fit for the denture when in use. Gentle sanding is sufficient to achieve a smooth surface.

3
Polish the tooth after sanding with products included in the home kit, or gently brush with toothpaste. This step should result in restoring the denture to its original condition. After repair is complete, dentures should fit the wearer comfortably and securely.
