Wisdom Tooth Symptoms

The removal of wisdom teeth remains a common procedure among teenagers and young adults. Wisdom teeth must be extracted when there is not enough room for them with the rest of your teeth. A variety of problems and symptoms can arise when wisdom teeth are coming out.
  1. Gum Pain

    • Impacted wisdom teeth, or a tooth that experiences trouble breaking through the gum, can lead to red, swollen and painful gums.

    Jaw Pain

    • Symptoms can expand beyond the gums when dealing with impacted wisdom teeth. For instance, swelling, pain and stiffness may also occur near the jaw.

    Headaches

    • The discomfort associated with impacted wisdom teeth can cause such excruciating symptoms like long-term and painful headaches.

    Infection

    • Partially impacted wisdom teeth can form a gum flap near the top of the somewhat exposed tooth. Bacteria from food particles can grow in the flap leading to infection and irritation.

    Tooth Decay and Bad Breath

    • Impacted wisdom teeth can inhibit the execution of proper dental care. As a result, such problems can cause tooth decay and bad breath.
