Facts About Dentures
-
Complete Dentures
-
Complete dentures are used when an individual loses all of their teeth.
Partial Dentures
-
Partial dentures are used when patients still have some of their remaining teeth. The dentures are molded to fit their mouth with holes for their real teeth.
Bridges
-
A bridge is a type of denture that's permanent and used when a person is replacing one tooth or more. Crowns are placed on the teeth and the bridge then attached to those crowns.
Process
-
Prior to placing dentures inside the mouth, the doctor must remove the injured or damaged teeth if they still remain. The doctor then makes a mold of the patient's teeth and uses that to make the dentures.
Time Frame
-
The length of time it takes to make dentures varies depending on the size and shape of the mouth. In general, it takes from 3 to 6 weeks for the dentures to be fitted and installed.
