Home Remedies for Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth are four back molars that generally emerge when humans are 20 to 25 years of age. Although the teeth may grow in normally for some, the majority of people must have their wisdom teeth extracted due to overcrowding of the mouth or improper alignment of the wisdom teeth. For patients who cannot or do not want to have the wisdom teeth extracted immediately, they can reduce pain and discomfort in the gums.-
Camphor Oil Remedy
-
Camphor oil is an oil extracted from the Cinnamomum camphora plant, and holistic experts have long praised the oil for its natural healing properties. To reduce pain associated with wisdom teeth, wrap a small piece of camphor oil in a cotton ball and place between the gums and inner lining of the cheek. As the cotton gets wet with saliva, the juice from the camphor plant is released slowly. The oil helps to sooth swelling and tenderness in the gums and mouth.
Clove Oil Remedy
-
An additional remedy for swollen gums is clove oil. This oil, derived from the clove plant, is also praised for its natural healing properties. Begin by placing a cotton ball into clove oil. Allow to soak for one minute, then place the wet cotton ball inside the mouth near the emerging wisdom tooth. Cloves may also be placed inside the mouth to reduce swelling and irritation.
Salt Water Remedy
-
Maintaining good oral hygiene will ensure the teeth and surrounding gum does not become infected or irritated. In addition to flossing and brushing twice daily, sufferers of wisdom tooth should gargle and rinse with a salt water mixture daily. To make, combine one cup of warm water with two teaspoons of table salt.
