How to Use a Waterpik WP-60W

A Waterpik is not like a toothpick, floss or toothbrush. Rather, a Waterpik uses fine sprays of water pressure, pulsating between each tooth to massage gums in areas a toothbrush or floss cannot reach. Used immediately after brushing and flossing, the Waterpik will find and flush out food particles remaining. The Waterpik WP-60W is perfect for a single individual who does not need more jet sprays than this model offers.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the electrical plug on the underneath side of the base. Plug it into an electrical outlet. Remove the reservoir (which later becomes a cover) of the Waterpik WP-60W. Turn it over and place the flat sides together on the base, making sure the openings on the reservoir and on the base align. Fill the reservoir three-quarters of the way full with lukewarm water and a 1/2 cap of mouthwash.

    • 2

Insert one of the tips into the handle. Pull down on the knob of the handle, insert the tip and release. This will lock the handle firmly. Remove it in the same way, but by pulling out.

    • 3

Adjust the pressure setting (markings on the handle) from low to medium if this is your first time using the Waterpik 60W. There might be a bit of bleeding, but do not be concerned. Repeated massaging will toughen the gums. Keep moving the pressure up a line until you reach the high level.

    • 4

Holding the Waterpik in your hand, bend your face at an angle into the sink. Turn on the power. Aim the jet tip into one side of your tooth along the gum line. Aim the jet spray up and around the entire tooth and move to the next. Continue this process for the entire lower mouth. Repeat the procedure for upper teeth. Use the little knob on the jet tip to turn and direct the spray.

    • 5

Remove the tip when you're finished and replace it with the tongue cleaner. Directions for this are included in the box. Spill out remaining water in reservoir. Dry everything thoroughly. Remove the jet tips, turn the reservoir over and replace it as a cover. Pull the plug from the wall.
