How to Be Prepared for the Dentist

However, this need not always be the case. Taking a few steps before visiting can actually turn the experience around into a fairly pleasant one.Things You'll Need

1
Set the dentist appointment for a convenient time. Don't set it for a time that would force you to rush to the office, like directly after work, for example; aim for a day when you have plenty of time available so that you can don't add additional pressure.
-
2
Bring old X-rays or any documentation of past dental work. If this is your first time with a new dentist, this information will be very useful in helping your dentist determine where things stand. In addition, be sure to tell the dentist about any medications that you are allergic to.
-
3
Arrive at the dentist office early. Again, you don't want to be rushed. Getting there early will allow you to time to relax, get used to the surroundings and feel more comfortable about the whole process.
-
4
Talk to the dentist about what's bothering you. Before the examination starts, speak briefly with the dentist about your anxieties, concerns or your potential fears. Most dentists have plenty of experience with these concerns and would be in a good position to help you feel more comfortable.
