1
Get an accurate impression of the patient's teeth. The dentist takes the impressions of upper jaw and lower jaw by placing alginate in the patient's mouth.
-
2
Allow the patient to drain excess saliva out of the mouth. With something in the patient's mouth, saliva will likely be excessive.
-
3
Take the alginate out of the mouth after five minutes.
-
4
Pour plaster of paris into the impressions to make casts.
-
5
Fix any imperfections that will inevitably occur in the plaster with a sharpened instrument like a scalpel and plaster rasp.
-
6
Make facsimiles in artificial stone utilizing the cast.
-
7
Although, false teeth can be made directly from the cast, this is not usually done because the lower teeth must fit the upper teeth properly.
-
8
Feed the cast into a device called an articulator that shows chewing motions and produces temporary base plates on the casts. Then, the cast is arranged properly and wax is used to secure it.
-
9
Give the temporary piece of false teeth to the user in order to try it. If it sits properly, the color of the false teeth can be adjusted to match the real teeth.
-
10
Make the false teeth out of a cast embedded in a metal container, which holds the teeth correctly in the mouth.
-
11
Pour the material in which the teeth are made into the metal container to allow it to solidify. The wax is removed and the false teeth are ready.
