Information on Lumineers

Lumineers dental veneers are ultra-thin porcelain veneers made by Den-Mat Corporation that provide cosmetic solutions to stained or chipped teeth. The application of Lumineers does not require shots or drilling as older traditional dental veneers do.
  1. History

    • In 1974, Robert Ibsen, DDS, founded Den-Mat Corporation after years of frustration with the quality of dental supplies and materials used in the dental industry. Den-Mat was known mostly for its tooth-whitening procedures until it developed Lumineers dental veneers in 2005.

    Construction

    • Lumineers dental veneers are constructed of a strong porcelain that enable veneers to be constructed to dimensions as little as .2 millimeters thick. Most Lumineers veneers require a thickness of .5 mm.

    Shot and Pain Free

    • In traditional dental veneer practice, dentists used anesthetic to keep the patient comfortable while the tooth was filed down to accommodate the veneer's size. Because of Lumineers' ultra-thin construction, grinding the veneered tooth down is no longer necessary, making the need for shots and the pain of having a tooth ground down unnecessary.
